I got this idea from a blog that was emailed to me by a friend. The other lady did a much better job of decorating the cupcakes but I tried for the kids. Here is a link to the site where the cupcakes look much cutier http://heatherannmelzer.typepad.com/ . I used store bought icing because making black icing for just a few cupcakes isn't that much fun and therefore not that easy, at least for me, to work with. But the kids really liked them and that is all that matters right?

Happy Halloween!

Ryder's 3rd birthday cake

This is Ryder's 3rd birthday cake. Go Diego Go is the "theme". This is the second attempt on the tree house as the first one didn't turn out so well.

The tire swing isn't as noticeable in the picture but I sure thought it turned out cute.

School tailgate cupcakes

Ok, so I didn't go all out on these cupcakes but its the thought that counts right? The kids and I sure enjoyed them though!

My favorite

My birthday is in August. I know I'm a little late in posting these but better late than never. My all time favorite cake is strawberry with cream cheese frosting. They are divine!

90th Birthday cake for Mamaw Self

This is is my Great Grandmother's 90th birthday cake. I must give thanks to my mother, Debbie, and my sister-in-law who both helped make this creation. We all had a hand in making this cake, from icing, baking cakes, to making flowers. I'd also like to thank my two year old son who added a few touches himself (driving his car through the cake more than once) as well as my nephew's shoe that had a hand in the top tier as well. It really was a family effort and a big hit at the party!

Ryder's 2nd Birthday

Ryder decided he wanted a Scooby Doo birthday party. I used a scooby pan. My friend Regina helped with the purple because we were in a hurry to get this finished.

Shelby's 5th Birthday

I was very pleased at how Shelby's birthday cake turned out. I used wedding cake items to make tiers. It was a big hit at her party.

Birthday cake

I like this cake. I made it for a friend's little boy who has red hair and loves soccer!

Army Cakes

I made these too cakes for a Army Family Day picnic. Both turned out really well. I had only planned to make one cake but I had enough icing to make two and the recruiting colors are the same as an American flag.

Ryder's 1st Birthday

This is my son's first birthday cake. I used a sheet pan and then cut the shape out free hand. I think it turned out pretty cute. He sure had fun diving into it too.

Wedding Cake and Groom's Cake

I was asked to make a wedding cake for a family wedding. I let them know in advance that I'd never made one before but I felt I could pull it off. I had to make this cake overnight once we traveled 7 hours to get to the wedding. I did make the roses ahead of time and stored them in pizza boxes so they would transport easily. I got lots of compliments on both cakes.

A picture of me adding the top layer to the cake. It was to heavy to transport from the location I baked it to the reception site so I had to do some work to it last minute.
I was asked to make a rebel cake and this how it turned out. It was strawberry cake inside and everyone was very pleased. I have to admit it was fun doing a wedding!

SHelby's 3rd Birthday Cake

Shelby wanted a Princess party for her 3rd birthday. This was a barbie pan that I used to turn into a princess. My mom helped add the curls to the hair (I always try to give credit where its due).

American Flag

I made this cake for a military event where cakes were auctioned. My cake sold for over $400 dollars, but the soliders were probably more excited about the four day pass hidden underneath it more than the actual cake, haha.

Various birthday cakes

A carebear cake for a little girl who was turning 3. She was very pleased with this sunshine bear cake.
This cake I made for a very dear friend of mine on her birthday. She was very surprised. I was glad I could do a little extra for my friend on her special day.
I made this cake for a co-worker and brought it to her at work. She was also suprised.
This cake was also made for a coworker that was made very last minute with a few pans I threw together to get this two layered cake.

Shelby's 2nd Birthday

Shelby's second birthday was a very important event. Her daddy missed her first birthday because he was in Iraq so I wanted her second party to be special. I put my new cake making skills to work and made her a butterfly birthday party to remember!

One of my first cakes

I took a cake decorating class when we moved to Fort Knox because I wanted to be able to make my children's birthday cakes look like more than a cake with store bought icing on top. This cake use made to practice techniques. By the end Wilton's cakes part 2 I was tired of eating cake!
